Now offered on Bring a Trailer, this 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer represents one of the defining luxury-oriented sport utility vehicles of the classic Jeep era. The Wagoneer name dates to 1963, when Willys introduced its full-size wagon as the foundation for an SUV lineage that would subsequently pass through Kaiser and American Motors Corporation (AMC) ownership. After the smaller XJ-based Wagoneer entered production, the original full-size model was renamed Grand Wagoneer, a designation that became synonymous with upscale appointments, genuine four-wheel-drive capability, and distinctive faux-wood exterior trim.
According to the selling dealer, this example was refurbished around 2002 by Norbert Buscha of Grand Wagoneer, following which it spent time registered in California and North Carolina. The current owner acquired the truck in 2012. Its metallic blue exterior, complemented by faux-woodgrain body trim, gives the Grand Wagoneer the unmistakable appearance associated with the model. Previous ownership included a repaint in the current blue finish, while bright-finished bumpers, mirror caps, and exterior trim provide additional contrast.
Practical equipment includes a roof rack, receiver hitch, rear-window wiper, and power-operated rear glass. The 15-inch alloy wheels were machined and refinished under current ownership and are fitted with 235/75 Hankook narrow-whitewall tires carrying 2024 production date codes. Together, these details preserve the period-correct character of the truck while adding a degree of contemporary usability.
Inside, the cabin combines traditional Jeep utility with the model’s upscale ambitions. Power-adjustable front seats and the rear bench are upholstered in beige leather and cloth, coordinated with the dashboard and door panels. Woodgrain accents reinforce the Grand Wagoneer’s classic aesthetic. Comfort and convenience features include air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and door locks, a center console with cupholders and lockable storage, and a Sony CD stereo. A leather-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilt-adjustable column.
Under the hood is Jeep’s 360-cubic-inch V8, upgraded with a Howell electronic fuel-injection system. The conversion provides a more modern approach to fuel delivery while retaining the character of the original V8. Power is transmitted through a three-speed automatic transmission and Jeep’s Selec-Trac four-wheel-drive system, which incorporates a dual-range transfer case with shift-on-the-fly capability and a viscous coupling.
Recent maintenance performed since October 2025 further enhances the truck’s mechanical readiness. Work included replacement of the heater core, air-conditioning compressor, steering damper, transfer-case output seal, rear main seal, oil-pan gasket, timing-cover gaskets, valve-cover gaskets, transmission filter and fluid, and transmission-pan seal. As presented, this Grand Wagoneer combines its historically significant full-size Jeep heritage with extensive refurbishment, upgraded fuel delivery, and a substantial list of recent mechanical servicing.
