Legendary Jeep 4×4 Capability

The Jeep Grand Cherokee delivers unmatched off-road capability through its three 4×4 systems: Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II with rear electronic limited slip-differential (eLSD). All three systems have an active transfer case that helps improve traction by shifting torque to the wheel that has the most grip.

The class-exclusive Jeep Quadra-Lift air suspension is now also equipped with electronic semi-active damping. It provides an unmatched 11.3 inches (28.7 cm) ground clearance and 24 inches (61 cm) water fording. When the road condition changes, the system automatically adjusts the shock tuning for better stability, comfort, and control. It can also be manually controlled through the console controls, giving the driver five height settings for optimal ride performance.

The Selec-Terrain traction management system allows the drivers to pick between on- or off-road setting to get the optimum 4×4 performance. The system controls the braking and handling, 4×4 torque split, throttle control, steering and suspension systems, transfer case, traction control, transmission shift, steering feel, stability control, and anti-lock braking system (ABS), coordinating all of them electronically.

To ensure optimized calibrations for different driving scenarios, the Selec-Terrain system have five terrain modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Mud/Sand, and Rock.

The 4×4 front-axle disconnect is a new feature for the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4×4. When the vehicle senses that the road conditions do not require a four-wheel drive, it automatically disconnects the front-axle and places the Grand Cherokee in rear-wheel drive. This helps reduce drag on the driveline and help improve fuel economy. If the need arises, the four-wheel drive is also automatically re-engaged.

Another new feature that is only exclusive to the Trailhawk model is the class-exclusive sway-bar disconnect. This allows for better traction and articulation on rocks and rough terrain.

The Grand Cherokee is capable of towing up to 7,200 lbs (3,265 kg) with the 5.7-liter V8 engine.
