The third-generation Jeep Wrangler, known internally as the JK, represented a major evolution of the iconic off-roader when it debuted for 2007. It introduced a wider track, the 3.8-liter V6 in place of the outgoing inline-six, a more refined interior, and, most significantly, the first factory four-door Wrangler Unlimited. The JK remained in production through 2018, establishing the foundation for the modern Wrangler.
Now offered for sale on Bring a Trailer, this 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon occupies an unusual place in JK history. It is number 99 of just 3,500 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Edition examples produced for the 2012 model year. Finished in black with MW3 decals and badging, the special edition combines factory Rubicon hardware with equipment designed around the popular video-game franchise.
The edition-specific package includes a power-dome hood, Mopar winch-ready bumpers, rock rails, fuel-filler door, rear light guards, rear bumper, specialized black upholstery, serialized plaque, branded floor mats, and distinctive interior trim. This example adds a Warn winch, AMP Research power-deployable side steps, quad LED cube lights, LED lighting, and window tint. A three-piece removable hardtop preserves the Wrangler’s open-air capability.
Underneath, the Unlimited Rubicon has been fitted with a lifted suspension and rides on 17-inch AEV Pintler wheels wrapped in substantial 35×12.5-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires, with a matching spare mounted at the rear. Disc brakes are fitted at all four corners.
Inside, heated front bucket seats combine black leather with textured cloth inserts, MW3 embroidery, and Call of Duty branding. Automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows, a rearview camera, and touchscreen navigation add everyday usability. The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel frames MW3-specific instrumentation, including a 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges.
Power comes from Chrysler’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, factory rated at 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission sends power through a dual-range transfer case to the rear or all four wheels, while factory Tru-Lok locking differentials at both axles provide the mechanical traction expected of a Rubicon.
With its limited production, serialized identity, Rubicon drivetrain, and extensive off-road hardware, this MW3 Edition represents one of the more distinctive factory special-edition variants of the JK-era Wrangler.
