The Jeep Grand Cherokee enters the 2027 model year with a broader lineup designed to strengthen its position across both the mainstream and premium SUV segments. As the Jeep brand’s top-volume nameplate and a major sales driver for Stellantis, the Grand Cherokee receives a combination of new trims, updated technology, revised wheel designs and expanded capability-focused equipment.
For 2027, the Grand Cherokee range grows to include the new Laredo Upland, while the Trailhawk and Overland return as late-availability additions. The changes give buyers more ways to configure the SUV, from an entry-level family-oriented model to highly capable off-road variants and upscale versions emphasizing comfort and refinement.
Revised Powertrain Strategy
The 2027 Grand Cherokee continues with two gasoline engines. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 remains standard on the Laredo and Laredo X, providing the familiar naturally aspirated powertrain for buyers prioritizing conventional performance and towing capability.
Higher in the range, the 2.0-liter Hurricane turbocharged four-cylinder becomes standard on the Laredo Altitude and above. The turbocharged engine gives Jeep a more modern alternative to the V6 while maintaining the Grand Cherokee’s emphasis on everyday usability and capability.
When properly equipped, the Grand Cherokee retains a maximum towing capacity of 6,200 pounds, positioning it among the more capable vehicles in its class for customers who need to pull trailers, boats or recreational equipment.
Off-Road Capability Remains a Core Strength
Jeep continues to emphasize the Grand Cherokee’s trail credentials for 2027. The SUV offers up to 11.4 inches of ground clearance, along with a 36-degree approach angle, 24.4-degree breakover angle and 30.3-degree departure angle. These dimensions help the Grand Cherokee negotiate steep obstacles and uneven terrain while reducing the likelihood of underbody contact.
The new Laredo Upland is particularly significant because it brings a more rugged appearance and off-road-oriented equipment to a lower price point. It receives 18-inch Trailhawk-inspired wheels wrapped in 265/60R18 all-terrain tires, along with a Trailhawk-inspired front fascia and Vapor Gray tow hooks.
The Upland also features a body-color painted roof, dark neutral gray exterior accents and a Global Black interior combining Capri leatherette and suede seating. The result is a Grand Cherokee that adopts much of the visual character associated with the more specialized Trailhawk without positioning itself at the top of the price spectrum.
Technology and Equipment Updates
Jeep has also made several changes to the Grand Cherokee’s standard and available equipment. For the Laredo and Laredo X, a 10.1-inch infotainment display replaces the previously standard 8.4-inch screen. A new 18-inch wheel design is also introduced for both trims.
The Laredo Altitude receives its own new 18-inch wheel design, further differentiating the trim visually.
For the Limited, Jeep adds a new 20-inch wheel design along with a wireless charging pad and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Limited Reserve gains automatic power-folding exterior mirrors, adding another convenience feature to the upper portion of the Limited range.
Expanded Color Palette
The 2027 Grand Cherokee also receives a substantially refreshed exterior color selection. New offerings include High Gloss Black and Sting Gray, while Ghost, Red Hot, Olive Green, Midnight Sky, Ember and Red Rock are scheduled for late availability.
Existing colors include Bright White, Steel Blue, Copper Shino and Fathom Blue. Interior choices include Global Black, with Wicker Beige becoming available on the Laredo and Tupelo/Black continuing as an option for the Summit.
2027 Grand Cherokee Trim Structure
The expanded lineup consists of Laredo, Laredo X, Laredo Altitude, the new Laredo Upland, Limited, Limited Altitude, Limited Reserve, Trailhawk, Overland and Summit.
The structure gives Jeep a wider spread between the entry-level Grand Cherokee and the premium Summit while adding dedicated alternatives for customers seeking a more aggressive appearance or greater off-road emphasis.
The Trailhawk and Overland are listed for late availability, with the Trailhawk starting at $54,995 and the Overland carrying a $57,895 starting price, including a $1,995 destination charge. The new Laredo Upland starts at $49,990, while the entry-level Grand Cherokee begins at $41,515.
Production of the 2027 Grand Cherokee continues at the Stellantis Detroit Assembly Complex, including the Mack and Jefferson facilities. The updated lineup is available to order, with vehicles expected to begin reaching dealerships in late 2026.
With its expanded trim strategy, additional standard technology and renewed emphasis on off-road capability, the 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee represents an evolutionary update rather than a wholesale redesign. The broader range nevertheless gives Jeep a stronger response to increasingly diverse SUV buyers, from customers seeking an affordable and practical three-row-capable platform to those looking for premium appointments or genuine trail capability.
