2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Brings Trail-Rated Capability and Hybrid Efficiency

Jeep is expanding the all-new Cherokee lineup for 2027 with the Trailhawk, a purpose-built variant that combines genuine Trail Rated® 4×4 hardware with hybrid efficiency. Starting at $44,625 including destination, the Cherokee Trailhawk is positioned as a do-it-all SUV for buyers who want serious off-road capability without giving up everyday fuel economy.

Built for Serious Off-Roading

The Trailhawk’s hardware separates it from conventional Cherokee models. Standard Jeep Active Drive II 4×4 incorporates Lock Mode and a class-exclusive two-speed power transfer unit with a 2.92:1 low-range ratio. Combined with a 37.5:1 crawl ratio and Electronic Locking Rear Axle, the system is designed to maintain controlled torque delivery across steep, loose and rocky terrain.

The Trailhawk also receives a one-inch suspension lift, specialized spring and damper tuning, 9 inches of ground clearance and steel skid plates protecting critical components. Jeep says the revised suspension improves Ramp Travel Index by 45 points over other Cherokee variants, increasing articulation when traversing uneven terrain.

Its published off-road figures include a 28.8-degree approach angle, 31.8-degree departure angle and 21.9-degree breakover angle. The Trailhawk is also rated to ford water up to 24 inches deep, which Jeep identifies as a class-exclusive capability.

Five Selec-Terrain modes—Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud and Rock—allow the drivetrain and chassis systems to adapt to changing surfaces.

Trailhawk Styling Has a Purpose

The Trailhawk’s aggressive appearance reflects its functional upgrades. Unique front and rear fascias improve its approach and departure geometry, while red front and rear tow hooks provide recovery points. A gloss-black upper fascia and anti-glare hood graphic distinguish the model visually.

Seventeen-inch wheels are wrapped in 245/65R17 Nexen Rodian ATX all-terrain tires. Inside, Mantis Green upholstery, red stitching, a Trailhawk logo and Black Spun Aluminum trim reinforce the model’s off-road identity.

Hybrid Power Meets Trail Capability

Power comes from a 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid system producing 210 horsepower. Jeep estimates 31 mpg combined, giving the Trailhawk a combination of fuel efficiency and off-road hardware that is unusual in the segment.

Standard equipment includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment display, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, memory seating and mirrors, LED lighting, fog lamps and a foot-activated power liftgate.

Buyers can further add a Sun and Sound package, Trailering package or Advanced Pro Tech Group. The trailering package supports up to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity, while the technology package adds features including ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, camera washers and a 360-degree camera.

Production Begins Later in 2026

Jeep says Cherokee Trailhawk production will begin later this year at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Complex in Mexico, with customer orders already open. With its low-range 4×4 system, lifted suspension, locking rear axle and hybrid powertrain, the 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk extends the Trailhawk formula into a more efficient generation of Jeep’s midsize SUV.
